The Questions
We Hear Most.

From "what makes a wine vegan?" to "where do you ship?" — here's everything you might want to know before pouring your first glass.

What actually makes a wine vegan? +

It's about how the wine is made, not what's in the bottle. Most conventional wines are clarified using animal-derived "fining agents" — egg whites, milk protein (casein), gelatin, or isinglass (yes, fish bladder).

Vegan wines either skip fining altogether, or use plant-based and mineral alternatives like bentonite clay, pea protein, or activated charcoal. The result tastes the same — but it's made without using animal products.

Why aren't all wines vegan? +

Honestly? Tradition and lack of regulation. Animal-based fining agents have been used for centuries, and most wineries default to them because that's how they were taught.

The bigger issue is that the U.S. doesn't require wineries to disclose their fining methods on the label. So unless a winery is intentionally vegan and tells you, you have no way of knowing what was used to make your wine.

Will vegan wine taste different? +

Nope — and that's the best-kept secret in wine. The flavor of any wine comes from the grape, the soil, the climate, and the winemaker's hand. Fining agents are removed before bottling, so they never affect what's in your glass.

What you'll notice with our featured wineries is something different: the depth and intentionality that comes from producers who care deeply about how their wines are made.

Do I need to be vegan to drink these wines? +

Not at all. Most of our community isn't fully plant-based — they're wine lovers who care about transparency, sustainability, and great craftsmanship.

Whether you're vegan, vegetarian, plant-curious, or just someone who appreciates a beautiful bottle of wine made with intention — you're welcome here.

How does the featured winery model work? +

Each month, Frances personally selects one (or sometimes two!) wineries that meet our standards for vegan certification, transparent farming, and ethical practices.

The featured wineries create exclusive bundles for our community — and we share their story so you understand exactly who's behind every bottle. There's no auto-shipment and no subscription. You shop only what excites you.

Is shipping really included? +

Yes — when a bundle says "shipping included," the price you see is what you pay. Everything to your door. No surprise fees at checkout.

Where do you ship? +

The featured wineries ship directly to legal alcohol-shipping states across the U.S. Restrictions vary by winery and by state — each winery's product page lists where they can deliver.

If you're unsure whether a wine can ship to your address, Frances is always happy to help. Just email her directly.

Do you offer a wine club or subscription? +

Right now, we don't do auto-shipments or monthly billing. Instead, we feature curated wineries each month with their own custom bundles — so you only buy what genuinely excites you.

The best way to never miss a featured winery? Join our newsletter. We'll send a beautifully written introduction to each new winery as soon as they go live.

What does "soil-to-sip" mean? +

It's our way of saying we care about the whole journey of a bottle of wine — not just what's in it.

Soil health. Ethical farming. Transparent winemaking. Vegan certification. Real relationships with the producers. From the dirt under the vines all the way to your glass — that's soil-to-sip.

Are these wines also organic, biodynamic, or natural? +

Many are — but each winery has its own approach. We feature dry-farmed estates, certified sustainable producers, biodynamic farms, and minimal-intervention winemakers, depending on the month.

What's consistent: every featured winery is vegan, transparent about how their wine is made, and committed to farming practices that respect both the land and the people working it.

How do you choose the featured wineries? +

Frances tastes everything personally. The criteria: vegan certification (or verifiable vegan production), transparent farming practices, a real story behind the wine, and — of course — wines that taste extraordinary.

We're not trying to feature the biggest names. We're trying to feature the most thoughtful ones.
